Intro to Encaustics-Two Summer Sessions Now Open for Enrollment at Valley Art Center
Did you miss out on my previous Intro to Encaustics Workshop? Two more summer sessions are now open for enrollment at Valley Art Center in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. Join me as we explore creating with the encaustic process (painting with molten beeswax) in this fascinating two hour workshop. We will cover the ancient origins and history of encaustics, modern working methods and materials, basic studio set up, equipment, and safety. You will gain hands-on experience with encaustic paint, oil sticks and oil paints. Some of the techniques covered will be layering, scraping, incising, stenciling, collage and photocopy transfer. You will leave this fun and informative workshop with a basic working knowledge of how to create beautiful encaustic paintings plus a wealth of resources to get you started on your own.
Sign up for either Saturday, July 22 or Saturday, August 12. Both workshops are from 1-3 p.m. Workshop fee is $50.00 with a $5.00 materials fee. Class size is limited to six students so don't wait too long. Several participants from my last workshop had such an enjoyable time they will be returning for more so I anticipate these sessions will fill up quickly.
